Items you may wish to bring with you to hospital
Clothing: Nightgown or pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers, socks, comfortable loose clothing (eg tracksuit) if your stay is more than two days.
Toiletries:Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, hairbrush and shaving equipment etc.
Food: Water/juice, snacks, fruit are often good supplements to the regular meals provided.
Medication: Bring all medication you are currently taking with you to the hospital. Medical staff will give advice on whether to keep taking these during your stay.
Earplugs and sleeping mask: These might be useful to shut out any noise and/or light when you want to sleep.
Mobile phone and charger: You are able to bring your mobile phone to hospital but we cannot accept responsibility should it be damaged, lost or stolen.
Laundry: Laundry facilities are not available for patients' use. Please arrange for a support person to take away any clothing for cleaning as required.
Please note: We do not accept responsibility for damage to, or loss of, personal items such as books, personal TVs, radios, computers, videos or mobile phones etc.
Items we ask you not to bring to hospital
Alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and e-cigarettes
Alcohol or illegal substances must not be brought onto the grounds. Smoking and vaping are not permitted within the grounds of any Te Whatu Ora Hutt Valley locations, including our Hutt Hospital site.
Visitors and patients who wish to smoke or vape should do so away from hospital grounds and entrances.
Money and valuables
Large sums of money should not be kept in the hospital. Please do not bring jewellery. We do not accept responsibility for jewellery, watches, cash or other property unless it is given to a member of staff for safe keeping and a receipt is issued.
