Graduate nurses at Hutt Valley DHB are surprised and delighted with their new positions as part of the NETP (Nurse Entry to Practice) programme.

Graduate Amy Robinson from Eastbourne trained at Massey University and will be working in Hutt Hospital as a registered nurse in theatre. She says she is delighted with her appointment. “I found out last week and I am quite relieved to have found a position.”

Five graduate nurses have been welcomed by Hutt Valley District Health Board this week. Two of the nurses have been taken on to work in Hutt Hospital. The other three nurses will work in primary health care and aged residential care.

Hutt Valley District Health board chief executive Ashley Bloomfield says the DHB would continue with its planned approach of taking on small groups of graduate nurses in later intakes and any further nursing vacancies would continue to be looked at to see if they were suitable for new nurses.

Emily Schrijvers from Silverstream will also be working at Hutt Hospital in the Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU). Katrina Blyth from Upper Hutt has joined Aroha Care Centre, Rona Tusa from Petone has joined Manor Park Private Hospital and Amy Marshall from Waiwhetu is working at Hutt City Health Centre.
