Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast District Health Boards (DHBs) have today released documents that were part of the decision making process for the new integrated community and hospital laboratory service.

In April the three DHB Boards decided to have a new integrated laboratory service across the lower North Island. Southern Community Laboratories (SCL) was selected to deliver the new service which will see laboratory equipment upgraded in the region and improve patient experience, turnaround times, and access to test results.

“As the procurement stage is now complete, we have made the information publically available as we want to be transparent about the decision making process,” says Dr Ashley Bloomfield, Director of Service Integration and Development for the three DHBs.

The documents released are:
• the 3DHB Integrated Laboratory Services procurement – final decision board paper from April 2015
• minutes from the board meetings held on the 24 April and 6 March 2015
• the final service specifications
• the Terms of Reference for the Alliance Leadership Team, and
• the process for applying to the ‘Flexifund’ for new tests.

For commercial sensitivity, some of the financial figures have been redacted.
