All Kenepuru patients who tested positive in the past week are in a stable condition at Kenepuru, and are being managed appropriately at Kenepuru Community Hospital under our stringent infection prevention and control protocols. Should more complex care be required, they will be transferred to Wellington Regional Hospital.
This closure will be reassessed early next week however, in the meantime, no general inpatient visitors will be permitted. If you have a family member or loved one in Kenepuru Community Hospital, you will need to contact them by phone during this time.
An exception may be made on compassionate grounds for patients undergoing palliative end of life care, however this would be considered on a case-by-case basis and only permitted with prior arrangement with ward staff.
The Kenepuru Accident & Medical Clinic remains open, as does the Kenepuru maternity service – with people birthing at Kenepuru still able to have a birthing partner to support them. Translators and interpreters are not viewed as visitors, and are still able to visit the hospital to assist patients with communication.
We apologise for this inconvenience and are doing everything we can to reopen to visitors. Thank you for your patience.
