Last week, thanks to a special effort from our Patient Welfare staff, Barbara’s eye’s welled-up at the sight of her 11-year-old golden retriever, Boston.
Barbara had told staff about her beloved companion dog, which she has been with since he was two years old, and the sense of security he gave her.
“He is a great companion who provides me with security as I live alone,” Barbara said.
Staff reached out to Barbara’s family friend who was looking after the dog. Working with the family friend, they produced a collage board of photos and a video of the dog for Barbara.
The team surprised the Hutt Valley local with their work -to which she immediately teared-up and was left speechless as she watched Boston on video running around the yard.
The photo board now hangs next to Barbara’s hospital bed, ready to go home once she has recovered.
