A group of young workers from Kiwi Can Do are lending a hand to paint a supply corridor at Hutt Hospital.

Kiwi Can Do is a free three-week training programme helping job-seeker Kiwis become tradies.

The programme aims to build confidence and get people work-ready through hands-on experience. Experienced tradies help the workers learn by showing them what to do then allowing them to use tools with one-on-one guidance.

After completing the course, staff stay involved with the graduate by helping them look for a job, take them to interviews and assist with relocation if necessary.

The service can also provide food, transport and accommodation.

Ross Williamson, Project Manager on Hutt Hospital's Building Services team said they were happy to partner with Kiwi Can Do because they are supporting individuals in our community to gain skills that can lead them into trades.

“The Kiwi Can Do team leader, Aron, is doing some great work with his team and a previously neglected area of the hospital gets some much-needed attention."
